Had my first visit to Plasa for a couple of years today and wasn't impressed at all?
the hilight was meeting Rog for the first time and seeing some of his work in the flesh (that I was impressed with)
There's no demo room on the void stand (they did want one but was told only if you don't have the stysis system on it) or any other's either apart from funkton one who I was told had a room upstairs but never I never managed to find it,
I must say I thought the show was crap with the same ole black boxes (mosly line array) and nothing really gave me the "I want it factor" apart from the blue system on the void stand and I really need that system for my house please!

now that is creative!

from the Ohm stand

Dsp from QSC

This show isn't a patch of it's former self and I did the whole thing in a bout 2 hours and that was with a Guinness break (at £4.00 a pint) I wont bother next year!!!

Never criticise another man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. Once you have, call him what you like, you're a mile away and you've got his shoes!

you must have missed the new Martin ASX, a rather wankworthy huge 21inch ported folded horn.

Did you hear the new Tannoy VQ60? It was one of the best sounding mid-tops I've heard in a while. They certainly didn't turn it up because it was on the main floor rather than a demo room but it was a fantastic speaker.

me so horny, me love you long throw.

For cabinet porn, that was the highlight for me. Where can I hear one.....?

It looked sick.

Clap I've heard both the 60 and the 100 and they sound beautiful don't they. Bit unconventional but their design is just the way I like it, BMS coaxial on a mega waveguide.

Anyone have any pics of the ASX? Big%20smile I want see 21 on horn...
Away on extended leave.

Interesting Ohm cabinet.

Looks like a Wbin with the driver in the front.

I heard the tannoys in Glasgow as well. The source material wasnt critical enough, but they did project well.
A guy on here has got a pair of the powered ones. Zambology where are you?

ASX was the product highlight for me too..

The brochure makes interesting reading...

7ft ported horn with a 21" neo driver - 6" voicecoil 2.4" peak to peak excursion and 1ohm.

The built in 8.5k amp also has a dsp that uses a pressure sensor near the driver to limit damage...

Apparently the 1ohm load presented by the driver and very high bl of the motor allow the dsp "virtually" adjust the driver..changing moving mass, resonant frequency and even cone area (how does that work )

Peak SPL of 152db.. 1m pink noise half space.

-3db 30hz - 150hz

Oddly tho (maybe a typo?) recommended crossover is 60hz - 120hz

Was also really good to see Tony ASS, Rog and co.. Void stand looked good (gutted they would not let them have a demo room).

Funktion one demo was good, amazing high end from paper cones.. And the double infrabass was pretty impresive in a small room.. Tony Andrews also give us some pointers for designing a horn for the X1.. Jolly nice chap he is too!

That's quite possibly the least sexy piece of gear QSC has ever put out... It looks so meek and conservative, it doesn't scream "I've got balls the size of a rhino" like a Dolby lake does...

But then again, at $1,150 USD I bet it kicks ass at getting the job done, and getting it done well.
